Picnic Parade from My Mom!

Isn't this card my mom made cute?  She used the new Level 2 hostess set from the Occasions Mini Catalog called Picnic Parade.  Mom, my sister, and their tablemates from my Winter Stampin' Retreat, Laurel and Kathy, all signed the card thanking me for retreat!  How nice!  We had a great time!

Stampin' Up! is Just My Type

How many of you remember typewriters?  Especially the old black ones like in the Puns from the Past stamp set?

I remember as a kid going to my folks' store in downtown Sturgis after school, and in the little office in the back and up some stairs was an old black typewriter...fascinating!  I bet my class was one of the last few years that "typing" was taught in high school!  Picture the class tapping away on typewriters to a tune played on a record!  It was just as hilarious in person as the thought of it is now!


I think that's why the Puns from the Past (#111676) stamp set and this card make me smile!  And don't even get me started on the old fans like the one I stamped on this card!

My 6-Word Memoir...

I am still amazed that I get to do what I love as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

You've Got Fan Mail!

I made several thank-you cards for my customers that attended my Winter Stampin' Retreat (we had fun, didn't we girls?) with one of my favorite stamp sets, Puns from the Past (see the item number in my photo above on the Chalkboard Decor Elements?  Puns from the Past is #111676!)  Just look at all of the cool images you get with this stamp set:

I antiqued the stamped images on each card by sponging the edges with Close to Cocoa Classic Ink and then spritzing them with Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, and Taken with Teal Stampin' Write Markers in my Color Spritzing Tool.

Decor Elements Chalkboard Decorative Sign

I have several Decor Elements vinyl wall art pieces in my house, and this one is my newest and favorite! 

I put up the Chalkboard Decorative Sign in my stamping studio right above my tall table, so that I can write project details on it for photographing!  I got the idea right away, it just took me awhile to get to it!  My wall has an orange-peel texture to it, but the vinyl is sticking just fine.  The smoother the better, but so far so good!  There are several new designs offered in the chalkboard vinyl, which you can see in the new Definitely Decorative brochure.

So, you'll see that my photos are going to be a little different for awhile, with the item number shown right on the photo!  All I have to do is erase the chalk like a regular chalkboard (I use a dry paper towel) and write again!  What could you use the many Chalkboard vinyl Decor Elements for in your home?

Snow Buddies Thanks Note

My little guy likes to stamp, so I had him help me with his Christmas thank-you cards.  

I hadn't used the now-retired Snow Buddies Level 2 hostess set, so we stamped with that set in Basic Black, Dusty Durango, and Bermuda Bay.  The ribbon is also from the Holiday Mini Catalog that expired on January 4th, but I had just enough left to make a set of 10 thank-you cards in this 4" x 4" size.

Aren't they cute?

My Story

I have been stamping since about 1983! I was in high school then, but let’s not count how many years ago that was! Thanks to my mother, I then learned to quilt while in college working towards my Chemical Engineering degree. Once I graduated and got a job in Omaha as an Environmental Engineer, I really immersed myself in quilting as a hobby. Since we moved back home again to the Black Hills here in South Dakota in 2000 and had our son in 2003, scrapbooking took over as the frontrunner hobby to catch all of those precious moments in time.

In 2008 during Sale-a-Bration I attended a Stamp Camp with my mom and sister at my friend Laurel's house and found stamping again. I was enjoying it so much that I created my own stamping blog, a relatively new idea at the time. A few months later I called my mom's long-time Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Joyce, and told her that I wanted to sign up! She had no idea I was thinking about it (and neither did I until that day!).

I have since discovered that I love teaching others how to stamp and scrapbook - unbelievable if you knew how shy & nervous I used to be in front of a crowd! I remember getting advice in my Technical Communications class in engineering school that I should find a subject I know and am passionate about and it would be easier to present and more engaging to others, and that advice was right on! I have FOUND my calling with my Stampin' Up! business!

I love stamping, papercrafting, and scrapbooking (including digital scrapbooking, which I fell in love with several years ago), I love showing others how crafty they can be, and I love challenging myself!

Stampin' Up! rewards its demonstrators beautifully and compensates us generously for succeeding at doing what we love.

I love being MY OWN BOSS and I LOVE WHAT I DO!
