St. Patrick's Day Medallion

Happy St. Patty's Day all!

What will ya do this fine day while wearin' a wee bit o' green?  I'll be after drinkin' a pint o' Guinness at the last regular season home game for our Rapid City Rush hockey!  Then we're in the playoffs!

Stampin' Up! Medallion Goes Celtic

Here's how I made this beautiful card:

• Stamp the Medallion stamp in Whisper White Craft Ink on Garden Green Card Stock
• While it's still wet, apply Stampin' Pastels chalk by patting it on with Sponge Daubers.  I used Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and More Mustard.
• Dot as you like with Crystal Effects.
• For the greeting I embossed the Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment in Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder on Brushed Gold Card Stock, punched it out using the Modern Label Punch, then rimmed it with Celery Fine Cosmo Stampin' Glitter and a 2-Way Glue Pen before covering it with Crystal Effects.

I was thrilled to attend the Stampin' Up! Leadership 2010 Conference in Phoenix this January, where I received the Elements of Style stamp set for free (coming in the Summer Mini)!  Here's my first card made with it:

Mojo Monday 130 Elements of Style

Yellow roses grow wild in the lower elevations here in the Black Hills, and I knew for sure that I was going to do the wild rose stamp in this set in that color.

• I stamped the roses on Apricot Appeal Card Stock in VersaMark clear ink then heat embossed in Black Stampin' Emboss Powder.  
• Then with a Blender Pen I accented the roses with the same Apricot Appeal Classic Ink to darken them up.
• The leaves were colored with Always Artichoke Classic Ink.
• The stylized hummingbird is to commemorate the one I spotted while at Leadership...a big treat in the middle of a long, snowy winter!

Stampin' Up! Workshops in Rapid City

Dotted Medallion with Vellum Vintage Labels

I haven't used my Vellum Paper in a while, so I tinkered a bit with it and came up with this:

The difference between Vellum Card Stock and Vellum Paper is the thickness...card stock is thicker, of course!  I love both and each has a place in my stamping studio!


TIP:  Don't overheat Vellum Card Stock or Paper when heat embossing!  It doesn't take as much heat to set the powder and you don't want to scorch the card stock or paper!

Clean & Simple 82 Asian Artistry (FTL82)

I don't normally post twice a day, but when I saw today's Clean & Simple 82 challenge, I had just the thing in mind:

The mountain bluebirds have arrived at our place here in the Black Hills in the mountains outside Rapid City.  They are a welcome site, arriving before the snow is gone, but reminding us with their brilliant blue shades that spring is around the corner!  Editing to add:  Just after I posted this I spotted a Bald Eagle across the creek from our property!  Can you tell that I'm an enthusiastic birder?!!!  It's great working from home!

Stampin Up Sponge Organization Containers

Remember my Video Tutorial on Organizing your Stamping Sponges last week?  Well I found a great way to store them!

SnapWare Stamping Sponge Storage

I bought 2 SnapWare containers at a local big box craft store and sacrified one of the lids so that I could have 4 layers that snap together:  2 that are divided for the 4 Stampin' Up! color families, 1 layer for my neutrals and In Colors, and one layer to hold my repurposed empty button containers that hold my 3 Shimmer Paint sponges and sponge daubers.  (For those you can see that I've punched a 1-3/4" Real Red circle, embossed it with the Finial Press folder in my Big Shot, then sponged the appropriate Shimmer Paint color over that to indicate what's inside.)

This card is similar to one I received in a No Layers swap at Stampin' Up! Leadership in Phoenix.  I loved it so much I added a layer and made it our second Hostess Club card this month!

Vintage Vogue in Soft Subtles

The effect, along with the Stampin' Up! color family, is soft & subtle.  Here's how you do it:

• Stamp your Whisper White Card Stock base (4-1/4" x 11" in this case) repeatedly in the lower right corner/half with the Vintage Vogue stamp set in Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal, and Almost Amethyst.
• Stamp the "Friend" stamp in Pretty in Pink in the upper left corner, re-ink and stamp again on a scrap of Whisper White.  Cut out the F from the scrap, set aside.
• With your Color Spritzer Tool and the Pale Plum Stampin' Write Marker, spritz the entire card front.
• Sandwich the card front only in the Stampin' Up! Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and run through your Big Shot Die-Cut Machine.
• Affix the F over your Pretty in Pink stamped Friend stamp with  Stampin' Dimensionals.
• It's that easy!

Isn't it pretty?  You could make a ton of these with very little effort and few supplies to have on hand for spring and summer occasions.


The Vintage Vogue stamp set is in the Occasions Mini Catalog...if you want this stamp set, better GET IT NOW because that catalog is only good through spring!
